Khdemli takes no commission on the price of your work. The platform earns only from the introduction: a few dirhams from the customer's wallet and a few dirhams from the craftsman's wallet, once per unlock. That is not an accounting detail — it is what guarantees that neither the price of your job nor the advice you receive is distorted by our own interest. Here is the full reasoning, without spin.
The problem with commission-based models
Most service platforms take a percentage of every job. The mechanism sounds fair — "we only earn when you earn" — but its effects are well documented. The craftsman prices the commission into the quote, so the customer pays more. The platform has an interest in jobs being expensive rather than being done well. And to protect its cut, it has to prevent the two parties from talking directly, which adds friction to a trade that lives on human contact.
Our choice: charge for the introduction, once
Khdemli charges for what it actually produces: a meeting between someone with a need and someone with the skill to solve it. Once that meeting has happened, our work is done and so is our revenue. Whether the job is worth 300 or 30,000 dirhams, we receive the same small amount. Nobody has any incentive to inflate anything.
- Zero commission on the value of the work
- Zero mandatory subscription for craftsmen
- A single charge of a few dirhams per introduction, on both sides
- Price displayed before every confirmation, never after
- No automatic charging: the wallet only moves when you act
Why both sides pay
This is the most frequently asked question, and the answer rests on one idea: the introduction benefits both parties. The customer gets a professional they could not have found alone; the craftsman gets a job they would not otherwise have had. Charging only one side would load the entire cost onto someone receiving half the value — and would mechanically push that cost back into the price of the job. Split between the two, it stays negligible for each: a few dirhams against work costing hundreds. The precise mechanism is described in the article on unlocking a contact.
A sense of scale
What this model makes possible
A business model is never just a billing detail: it determines how a platform behaves. Ours lets us hand over the craftsman's real phone number and WhatsApp after the unlock, instead of routing you through a masked switchboard. It means we have no reason to push large jobs artificially, and no reason to bury negative reviews — we lose nothing when a job is criticised, whereas a commission-based platform loses money on every bad rating. It is also why reading profiles, galleries and reviews stays completely free, whether you are looking at a builder or a gardener.

Free unlocks and pricing tiers
Two mechanisms soften the principle. First, some accounts receive free unlocks, consumed before any balance is touched: the first introductions can therefore cost nothing at all. Second, the price follows tiers managed by the platform, and the applicable amount is always displayed before confirmation. How the balance and the history work is detailed in the wallet guide.
What we deliberately do not monetise
For consistency, several doors stay closed on purpose. We do not sell placement in search results: ranking depends on relevance, reviews and profile completeness, not on payment. We do not resell your contact data. And we do not impose subscriptions on craftsmen, including those who receive a high volume of requests. A professional who does good work should not be penalised for succeeding.
