House Cleaner Cost in Morocco: 2026 Rates

In Morocco, a home cleaner is commonly paid between 15 and 30 dirhams an hour, 120 to 250 dirhams a day, or 1,500 to 3,000 dirhams a month for full time. The spread comes down to the city, the hours, and above all to what is actually being asked: routine upkeep and a deep clean are not the same job. Here are the benchmarks, and how to set clear terms on day one — which is what prevents ninety percent of the problems.

The three common arrangements

• Hourly — 15 to 30 MAD/h. Best for short, regular visits of 3 or 4 hours.
• Daily — 120 to 250 MAD. The most common arrangement: a day covers a whole flat.
• Monthly, part time — 800 to 1,500 MAD for two or three visits a week.
• Monthly, full time — 1,500 to 3,000 MAD, sometimes more in Casablanca or in large villas.

These ranges are for the larger cities; expect less elsewhere. And bear in mind that a very low rate almost always comes with a trade-off: less experience, no reliability, or tasks you assumed were included that turn out not to be.

What is included — and what is not

This is the number one source of misunderstanding. "Cleaning" means very different things to different people. Agree explicitly, in the first conversation, on what a day covers.

1. Routine upkeep — floors, dust, kitchen, bathrooms, beds. That is the baseline.
2. Laundry — washing, hanging, ironing: spell it out, ironing is often counted separately.
3. Windows — rarely included in a standard day.
4. Cooking — a different job at a different rate.
5. Deep cleaning — emptied cupboards, behind furniture, the oven: budget for it separately.

What moves the price

• Size and number of rooms — a one-bedroom and a villa are not comparable
• Children or pets — more mess, more time
• Frequency — a weekly visit is quicker than a monthly one on the same home
• Ironing — the single item that stretches a day the most
• Supplies — say who provides them; normally the household does

How long for what size

A useful benchmark for knowing whether you are asking the impossible: allow roughly one hour per room for routine upkeep, once the place is tidied. A one-bedroom therefore takes 3 to 4 hours, a three-bedroom 5 to 6, and a villa needs the full day. Add a week's ironing and you are looking at one to two hours more. Tidying before the person arrives — clearing surfaces, emptying the sink — saves a surprising amount of time and visibly improves the result, because they are cleaning rather than sorting.

When it is worth paying more

Cleaning is one of the few trades where the cheapest option regularly costs more in the end. Someone reliable who comes on the agreed day, knows your home and does not need re-explaining every week is worth noticeably more than someone 20 dirhams cheaper who cancels twice a month. The real cost of an unreliable arrangement is not the rate — it is the day you come home to a place that was not cleaned and you have guests arriving. Judge on consistency first, price second.

Trust: someone is coming into your home

This matters more than the price. You are handing over keys and privacy. Take the time: read reviews left by other families, look at how long the profile has existed, and start with a trial day before committing to a month. Agree together, out loud and then in writing: arrival and finish times, the day's tasks, the amount and the payment day, what happens if either side cannot come, and public holidays.
